Reuters - Alcoa Inc posted a fourth quarter loss due to a steep plunge in aluminum prices, but its revenue beat expectations and the company gave a positive outlook for global demand for the metal, especially in the aerospace and automotive markets.

AP - ECONOMIC WOES: Alcoa's revenue fell across a range of businesses because of a sluggish global economy. That led to a global surplus in aluminum and caused prices to fall more than 27 percent since their 2011 peak in April.

Reuters - As tax season begins, a decision by Wal-Mart Stores Inc to offer some free and discounted tax preparation in conjunction with its check-cashing services at more than 3,000 U.S. stores is less about giving back and more about bringing in, experts cautioned.
